XMAS VICTORIES FOR ROCHDALE HARRIERS  

Rochdale Harriers enjoyed two impressive victories within 4 days over the Christmas and New Year break 05/06. 

 

On 29th December the men stormed home to win the Radcliffe After Christmas 5 Mile Charity Trail Race.  This is the second year in succession Rochdale has brought home the cup.  Phil Williams finished first overall with an impressive sub-5minute mile time of 24:26, followed by Kris Robinson (7th, 26:02), Ian Stainthorpe (12th, 27:45), Ray Dalby (24th, 29:49), Mark Walker (31st, 30:39), Dave Schofield (38th, 31:40) and John Purdy (45th, 33:24).

 

1st January saw a few hangovers and 114 hardy souls (228 muddy soles) taking part in the 5 mile Joe Salt New Year's Day Awakener Race around the paths and trails of Cowm Reservoir.  The Rochdale ladies took first place with the winning team of Josefa Terim (2nd lady, 33:32), Huma Rahman (3rd lady, 33:54) and Anna Blomfield (7th lady, 36:08).

 

Other Rochdale Harriers taking part on New Years day were Kris Robinson (28:53), Ian Stainthorpe (30:48), Mark Widdup (32:26), Steve Leak (34:04), Malcolm Rowbotham (34:34), John Mayall (35:34), Ian Holloway (38:33), Barry Preece (42:04) and Tracey Smith (42:26).
