Proctor Sets New Club Record for 1500M

27th August 2006

DAVID PROCTOR set a new club record in the 1500m at Sportcity on 27 August, 2006.

David was invited to  take part in the 1500m at the UK  Challenge Final. The first 800m went well in 2:00.00, settling David into the pack.  Then, with 300m to go, David attacked the front of the field and was rewarded with a 4th place.

David’s time of  3:47.11 mins broke a club record which has stood for 27 years, previously set by Colin Robinson in 1969.   He finished 3 seconds behind the winner, who recently competed  at the European Championships in the 3000m steeplechase, and he narrowly missed  out on beating Mike Skinner, Bronze medallist in the 1500m at the AAA's Championships in 2004, by only 0.13 seconds.

The time of 3:47.11 mins makes David the 15th fastest Under 23 athlete in the Country this year, in an event he usually does not compete in.
