PB's Galore at Trafford 10K   Ten from over a dozen Dalians after the Trafford 10K (photo thanks to Mick Moran) Pictures and Video THE ROCHDALE HARRIERS road race championship began the new season with the first counting race – the Trafford 10K. David Proctor was the first Rochdale finisher in what was a top quality field.  He improved on last year’s time by posting 30 min 23 sec.  Following David were ‘fast Phil’ Williams (33:02) and Derek Simpson (33:44).  For Derek this was a personal best time, and about a minute faster than his previous personal best set only a week before at Dewsbury.  Paul McGlynn also set a personal best time of 37:27, just 12 seconds behind Chris Merchant.    Anna Blomfield, John Mayall and David Wharton ran at a similar pace for much of the race.  Ultimately John Mayall won the sprint with Anna to the finish line by just 4 seconds and suffered at the end as a result.  All three achieved 10K personal bests, 41:08, 41:12 and 41:46 respectively.  Anna also won the prize for first female veteran 50 and set the 3rd fastest 10K time in England this year for her age category.  New member Nikki Green aimed for sub-1 hour finishing time.  She was delighted to clock 53 min 35 sec, about eight minutes faster than her previous 10K.o In other races, Chris Hill’s preparations for the Manchester Marathon received a boost. He completed the Trimpell 20 mile road race in 2:25:11. Hazel Caruthers slashed 4 minutes off her 10K pb by completing the Dewsbury 10K in 41 min 55 sec. Paul McGlynn clocked exactly 84 minutes at the Blackpool Half Marathon. In the Blackpool full marathon, tri athlete Jamie Ward clocked 4:01:07.
