Rochdale Harriers preparing for the 7th and final race in
the Club's 2011 Road Race Championship
ROCHDALE HARRIERS have achieved numerous personal best times in races this month.
At the Helen Clitheroe Cown trail race, personal best times were achieved by Jack Walsh (17 min 24 sec); Stephen Leak (20:27) and Hazel Carruthers (21:17). Danielle Beard was particularly delighted with her first sub-20 minute 5KMT result.
In the Great North Half Marathon, Paul Leary clocked a personal best time of 83 min 58 sec.
At the Ron Hill 5K in Littleborough, 5Km personal bests were achieved by Ian Roberts (17:29) and newcomer Phillip Bennett (17:44).
Chris Merchant attempted his first half marathon at Macclesfield. The course was very challenging with numerous hills. Two of the final three miles were completely uphill. Chris had a tremendous run and led the Rochdale team home in 84 min 41 sec, taking 23rd position overall.
Anna Blomfield was 4th lady overall at Macclesfield and Rochdale’s first lady. She achieved a personal best time of 94 min 28 sec and set a new course record in the female veteran 50 category by a margin of about 1.5 minutes.
Also at Macclesfield, Paul McGlynn was delighted to sneak under the 90 minute mark to post 89:59. Wesley Young’s pb was 103:53 and John Mayall posted a season’s best time of 95:52.
