Radcliffe Three Day Event

ROCHDALE HARRIERS fielded 5 athletes in the recent Radcliffe 3 Day Challenge and claimed
the top awards in 4 categories and second in the team competition.
The
Challenge comprised 3 races of 5 miles over fell, cross country and trail. The
weather was generally good which helped the athletes.
Jaclyn
Davison of Rochdale won the women’s 3 Day Trophy running excellent races while
carrying a slight injury. As a junior she showed physical and mental strength
over challenging technical courses. In the Master’s categories Mark Walker,
Phil Roberts and Brenda Robinson won first places.
The
Harriers men’s team finished in second place to Swinton A.C. who won by only 16
seconds. The Rochdale team was Mark Walker, Kris Robinson and Phil Roberts.

for the 3 Day Challenge were: Jaclyn Davison 2 hours 12.37.
Mark
Walker 2 hours 2.07. Kris
Robinson 2 hours 14.12. Phil Roberts 2 hours 41.17. Brenda Robinson 3 hours 08.43.
The
Bull Hill Fell Race on Day 1 was a Grand Prix fixture in the local fell league
and other Harriers who raced were Nick Barton 48.24, Norman Eames 49.54, John
Mayall 50.24, Danielle Beard 53.06, Matt Cox 54.30. Anna Blomfield retired injured.
In
the Cross Country Race on Day 2 Chris Merchant mastered a technical course to
finish 3rd in 34.59.
In
the final event on Day 3 several Harriers joined the 5 3 Day eventers and the
results were: John Cook 32.48, Paul Leary 32.57, Mark Catherall 36.17 and
Lorraine Leary 44.34.
Radcliffe Athletic Club were excellent marshalls
and hospitable hosts over the 3 days of competition.
