Can you spot all 9 Rochdale Ladies?

The 2009/10 cross country season has given us lots to feel good about.  There was a bumper turn out from our Juniors' section, promising a rosy future for our Club.  The Seniors' section has been boosted by the presence of the Proctor Boys, Fast Phil  and increasingly speedy ladies,with Diane Winterburn having the race of her life in the 
final event at Leigh.

A few highlights from the SELCC league are as follows (apologies to anyone not mentioned):

Team Performances

Under 11 Boys finished 2nd with Charlie Nicholson, Jacob Slough and Daniel Moore representing Rochdale.

Under 15 Boys finished 1st, with
Jack Walsh, Ben Johnson, Tom Kramer, Sam Ullah and Liam Moore representing Rochdale.

Under 15 Girls  finished 1st, with
Beth Greenwood, Naomi Richardson, and Sophie Thirsk representing Rochdale.

Rochdale Ladies won the over 35, over 40 and over 45 categories outright. They were were joint third in the Ladies over 20 category.


Rochdale men were 2nd in the Men over 20 category.   Rochdale’s men’s teams also won the vet 60 category and came 2nd in both the veteran 40 and 50 categories.

Individual Performances

Lucy Moore took silver in the Under 13 girls category.

Ben Johnson was joint 2nd in the Under 15 Boys.

Beth Greenwood, Naomi Richardson and Sophie Thirsk were 2nd, joint 3rd and 5th respectively in the Under 15 Girls.

Scott Greenwood finished 2nd in the men under 20 category.

Rochdale’s best individual performances came from brothers
Matt and David Proctor.  They finished 1st and 2nd in the Senior Men’s race at Heaton Park and their presence gave the whole squad a real boost.

Our African queen Josefa Terim was the Club's fastest lady, winning the female veteran 35-40 prize.

Anna Blomfield won the female veteran 40-45 prize yet again.

Janice Needham finished an excellent 2nd in the ladies over 50 category.

Nigel Shaw and Norman Eames were 2nd and 3rd fastest male veteran 60s.

The six highest ranked senior men over the age of 20 from Rochdale to complete at least three races were, in order,
Paul Leary, John Cook, Nigel Shaw, Norman Eames, Mark Catherall and Steve Leak.
