Juniors on Track for Fine Performances
JUNIOR MEMBERS of Rochdale Harriers enjoyed a successful end to this year’s summer track and field season. Excellent performances were the order of the day at the Open Medal Meetings at Wakefield and Blackpool.Tom Kramer recorded 4 personal bests in four different events across the two meetings, while Naomi Richardson posted a PB of 3.79 in the long jump at Blackpool.
New recruits Amelia Gavin and Charlotte Bowker made a big impression on the squad. Amelia finished 2nd in the 600 during her debut at Wakefield. Meanwhile Charlotte won heats in the 100 and 800 at Wakefield and delivered a superb long jump of 3.96 at Blackpool, some 60 cm up on her debut effort the previous week.
Looking to the future, and the 2008/09 cross country season has seen a highly encouraging increase in the number of Rochdale juniors taking part. We have the possibility of fielding an under 15's team.
