The course is about 50 miles/12,000ft ascent and is split into 6 legs, run in pairs.

For safety reasons this race has strict kit requirements.  All competitors are required to wear or carry a cagoule, over-trousers, hat, gloves, relevant map, compass and whistle.  Random checks are made at the start and end of each leg.  If any runner is found not to be in possession of ALL the above items, the entire team is disqualified.   For more information see the Halifax website
