ROCHDALE
HARRIERS won a string of medals at the Winter Warm-Up athletics event
on 19th March 2006 at Stanley Park Arena, Blackpool. 17
year-old Matthew Proctor entered the Senior Men’s 400m event and won
the final in a time of 53.9 seconds.
The talented youngster also made third place in the 600m race (1
min 28.8 sec). The
Rochdale team was also successful in the junior level
competitions. In
the under 17 women category, Lorna Halliday won silver for her 100m
run (15.2 sec) and came 6th in the 200m race (34.5 sec).
Rebecca
Jones won the discuss event in the under 15 women category.
Her throw was an impressive 12.45m. In the same age category
Gina Thornton made 4th place in the 200m race (31.3 sec). In
the boys under 13’s, James Telford came second in the long jump with
an excellent distance of
3.55m. Tim James
made 6th place with 2.97m. Joe
Connor won both the 600m final and heat 3 of the 80m race (boys
under 11). Liam Smith’s best performance was in the 600m where he
came 4th (2 min 08.5 sec). |
